The recipe for plantains with cream, known in Spanish as "Platanitos Fritos con Crema" is perhaps the simplest of all, but also without a doubt the most used in Guatemala, in fact it is enjoyed daily. Delicious and nutritious.

They are even simply called "platanitos" in Guatemala, and you can see them in every traditional breakfast. It is a very prominent dish, although discreet at the same time, it is not what you will enjoy first on your breakfast or lunch plate, but you will certainly notice the lack of it if it is not on the plate.

The great abundance of tropical fruits, and especially bananas, is reason enough for there to be many recipes to prepare with bananas in Guatemala. And this is another one of these, to enjoy if it is not for breakfast, it can be for lunch or as a mid-afternoon dessert.

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas.
  • Cooking oil for frying.
  • Cream.
  • Brown sugar.
  • Cinnamon powder.

Instructions

Step 1 : First, we have to peel the bananas and then cut them into small slices. Cut each slice slightly skewed. Although you can also cut them into strips or small pieces. It is up to you.

Step 2 : Add enough oil to the pan and heat. If you use a nonstick skillet, use less oil. Fry the plantain strips until golden brown. Not too dark golden but not too little either, some point in the middle will be fine.

Step 3 : Remove from the pan and remove excess oil by placing the slices on absorbent paper.

Step 4 : Finally, serve on the plate and only until then, add the cream on top, brown sugar and a little cinnamon.

Remember that the texture of the bananas should be soft and moist. So make sure they are well cooked inside to enjoy their intense flavor. Additionally, remember to eat them freshly cooked, do not save for later because it is healthier and the flavor is more intense.
