The meatball broth is a food that many in Guatemala will remember for the exquisite flavor that has been prepared by our Guatemalan families for a long time. Like many other recipes, there are different versions by country and region, but we share one of the most popular.
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound beef short ribs (for extra flavor)
- 2 medium size tomatoes
- 2 Garlic Cloves (finely chopped)
- 1 large onion (finely chopped)
- 1 Carrot
- 1 cup peas
- 1 Corn
- 1 1/2 cups Noodles (Curved Macaroni)
- Chopped celery
Step 1 : As a first step, boil the beef short rib in a pot with enough water for 1 hour. This will help add extra flavor to the broth. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
Step 2 : Meanwhile, mix the chopped celery with the ground beef, add salt and pepper to taste. Then form small balls of the meat and put them aside.
Step 3 : Chop the tomato, garlic, onion, peas and carrot into small pieces and add them to the pot. If you can, cut the corn into small pieces, but if not, just add the whole corn to the pot for a special touch.
Step 4 : Immediately after adding the vegetables, add the meatballs and pasta to the pot. Boil for 15 minutes.
Step 5 : Finally include a little coriander and minced mint and serve. Bon Appetite!
As an additional touch, we recommend accompanying it with avocado, simply delicious.
