Magdalena is a very fluffy bun and is part of traditional Guatemalan desserts. It is very popular in Guatemalan cuisine for its sweetness and delicious touch of orange flavor, ideal for dessert after lunch or in the afternoon with coffee.
This simple but delicious cake has a curious circular shape that we all love, in fact, it would be very strange to find a Guatemalan who does not like it. It is commonly enjoyed cold, but you can also warm it up and accompany it with a cup of coffee, or maybe a scoop of ice cream or even orange or strawberry jam. Simply Delicious!
Step 1 : beat the butter, sugar, baking soda, baking powder and salt together until the mixture is creamy.
Step 2 : While continuing to beat the mixture, add the eggs, one at a time.
Step 3 : Continue beating and then add the orange juice, vanilla, the orange zest and the flour. All these add them little by little. Continue beating until the mixture is very creamy.
Step 4 : Preheat the oven to 350 F. Meanwhile, grease and flour the muffin/cake pan. This mold should have a round, ring-like shape.
Step 5 : Bake for 35 to 40 minutes. To make sure the cake is done, insert a knife into the cake, if the knife comes out clean, it means the cake is done.
Step 6 : Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely. Finally, cut into slices and enjoy.
We are sure that this is another of these desserts that you will be preparing very often.
