5 Reasons to Learn Spanish in Antigua Guatemala

There are a few good reasons why coming to Antigua Guatemala to study Spanish is better than other countries in Latin America and even Spain. So we would like to share 5 reasons for you to consider...

Pronunciation

In Guatemala, the spanish pronunciation is clear and clean, which makes it easier to understand and learn. Other countries to learn Spanish like Spain, have a natural accent which makes it sometimes difficult to understand even for the rest of Latin America, to share a few examples... in Spain the S sounds always like Z, they cannot pronounce the X in a word. Words like ‘recepcion’, ‘exaltacion’, ‘etcetera’ they can’t pronounce properly so learning from that may become harder. The Spanish you learn in Guatemala basically is… what you read or write is exactly how you would pronounce it.

Diction

In Guatemala, the words used to express something is clear and easily understood. Learning Spanish in Antigua Guatemala will help you read, write and understand the International Spanish, so if you hear or read the Spanish from Cuba, Venezuela or Spain, you will definitely understand it. Words like ‘vosotros’, ‘visteis’, ‘corred’ or ‘vestiros’... (these are words used in Spain) and many many others are hard to use and therefore not fully understood to its extremity. This also affects the tone and style to communicate. The message you are trying to convey shouldn't only involve words, but tone & rhythm.

Costs

The cost involving learning Spanish in Guatemala in comparison to other countries is much lower, not only for the actual Spanish tuitions, but also lodging (family stays or hotels), food (restaurants, etc...) as well as transportation, entertainment and leisure.

Culture

Guatemala is a country of multi-cultural influences to learn from… this includes history from Spanish Colony from hundreds of years ago; life style of local indigenous arts, traditions and culture, and of course the heritage of the Mayans Civilization.

Weather

Guatemala is well known to be the land of the eternal spring. The weather and temperatures in this country are never too extreme, there isn't too high or too low temperatures. You can enjoy a walk around Antigua with a sunny morning even during the rain season.

There are many other reasons to visit Guatemala, like food, the nature, arts and so on... In conclusion, learning the Spanish language in Guatemala, is more accessible from several points of view, and we hope that you share our opinion.
