ARE YOU INTERESTED IN LEARNING SPANISH?

It is well known Spanish originated from Latin, and has much in common with all Roman languages. Spanish (also known as "Castellano") was taken to the New World by Spanish Conquerors in 1492. The native population assimilated the language, and now more than 400 million speak it. Spanish has become one of most important languages in the world.

Antigua, a beautiful city set in the highlands of Guatemala, is the perfect location to learn Spanish. The Spanish Academy Antigüeña offers you an ideal introduction to the colonial lifestyle of Guatemala. I invite you to this little paradise to learn Spanish and live the Latin lifestyle.

The school director is Guatemalan; it is important for us that you know that we don't have connections with 'School Antigua' or any other school in town. We do not have people working on the streets trying to contact new students, all the Spanish Academy Antigüeña team work in our office, 1a. Calle Poniente # 10, e-mail: mail@spanishacademyantiguena.com / antigueno@itelgua.com if you want to make contact with us, please come directly to our place or give us a call.

I hope you will accept my invitation to visit!

OUR PROGRAM: THE OBJECTIVE

The objective of the program is to help you, as an elementary student, reach a basic understanding of Spanish grammar, combined with a degree of fluency in the spoken language or, as an advanced student. After an evaluation to determine current language ability and needs, an individual study plan is developed for each student. Instruction normally consists of oral drills, written exercises, conversation practice, literature study and work on finer grammatical points. Over the last fourteen years, we have perfected our program and methods so that now we can boast the most efficient techniques in teaching Spanish. We recommended elementary students enroll for a period of 4 to 6 weeks to attain the basic skills.

Are we different from other Schools?

OUR METHODOLOGY:

ONE-ON-ONE InstructionsUnlike many other schools we pride ourselves in limiting our school size to 20 teachers for 20 students. With this, our school is more personable and social for your Spanish immersion experience. All our teachers are qualified university trained educators to give you what is needed to learn Spanish quickly. With teen students is easier to monitor the progress of each student and control the program of each teacher.

All instruction is on a one-on-one basis. This individual instruction format has several advantages:

You can study either outside in fresh air or in a classroom

First, it ensures that you have the full attention of your teacher. Second, you do not have to worry about the "stage-fright" factor inherent in attempting to utter unfamiliar sounds and words in front of a classroom audience.

Third, and for many of our students the most important, with one-on-one instruction there is no "schedule" of classes. Quite simply, language instruction begins when you arrive, ends when you decide to leave, and the schedule is dependent only on each student's available resources and desire to continue study. Even after the student is in attendance at the Institute, in fact, scheduling of classes remains ultimately flexible. Since you can pay one week's tuition at time, no student is tied to a preconceived schedule. Impromptu travel changes or study plans are always a flexible option.

The school uses the audio-ling the audio-lingual method of teaching. This method is referred to as "Total Immersion", which not only gives you your own teacher for the study period but also the chance to live with a family, this greatly enhances your ability to converse. The school provides all the textbooks and other materials required for your course.* The duration of your course depends on your needs and experience. We suggest between 4 to 8 weeks depending on our previous knowledge.* The classes begin with basic dialogue and progress to complex conversation.* Spanish is the only language spoken by the teachers, although our teachers can converse in basic English. * From the first day, you will begin to study grammar through conversations. This enables the student to develop a sound knowledge of the language.* We have two available techniques by which to study:First, One-on-one instruction from the same teacher for the duration of your course.

The second is One-on-one instruction from two different teachers.
